How many people have left Armenia in 1992-2015?


Emigration trends in Armenia are getting deeper year by year as thousands of people leave to seek residency in other countries. All the time during the past 25 years of independence, with exception of 2004-2006, the migration balance from Armenia was always negative. During these 25 years of independence there were only three years when Armenia had immigration positive balance. Since 2010 every year approximately 43 thousand people left Armenia. During Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s presidency in 1992-1997 – 586,800 people left Armenia. During Robert Kocharyan’s presidency in 1998-2007 – 129,300 people left Armenia, and during Serzh Sargsyan’s presidency since 2008, during eight years only, till January 1, 2016 – 307,600 people left Armenia.
